Welcome to Interviewed, a series of discussions and chats with creators of all kinds.

Today we’re joined by Haydy of Squibbvicious, a travel expert, London know-it-all and food connoisseur. Haydy is one of the few bloggers I’ve been lucky enough to spend some time with, she’s just as hilarious, kind and bubbly in real life as she is online.

D: What do you do online as a creator?

H: I blog about travel, food, festivals, London, Essex and all the other bits inbetween, make YouTube videos, spend too much time on Instagram, and moan about my daily commute on Twitter! I also spend a hell of a lot of time emailing people about collabs – does that count?!

D: Can you tell me a bit about your offline life?

H: I’m 27 years old, soon to be 28 although most say I look 18 still! My day job is the SEO Manager at Culture Trip; an online hub for Travel, Culture, Arts, Food etc which is pretty damn cool! I live in Essex with my boyfriend who helps edit my YouTube videos as I have minimal patience!

D: How did you get into the world of online content creation?

H: I did Journalism as my degree at the University of Greenwich and we had to start a blog there which I loved but never continued! I then started an Unsigned Band blog that lasted over a year but then Squibb Vicious was formed when I started my first ‘proper job’ as I got to do insane things I never dreamt of like going on the Orient Express so I just had to share these events and five years later, I’m still waffling on!

D: What do you think is the best part of blogging?

H: The people you meet; I think most of my closest friends are from the internet which most people find weird but blogging really brings you together.

D: How do/did you find managing your professional life as a CEO, with your personal life and your blogging?

H: A lot of my personal life is part of my blog life, I guess! I spend my evenings and weekends at events, traveling or writing but it’s something I really enjoy doing. I also get to take the boyfriend to a lot of events so I enjoy spending those times with him too. Sometimes, after work, I do just give myself the night off to see family of veg out in front of the TV!

D: Is there any type of content creation you’d love to try but haven’t as of yet?

H: I think I’d like to take YouTube a little more seriously but I’m hoping our Drone purchase will help that. I’m quite happy otherwise 🙂

D: What content creators do you particularly look up to/admire?

H: So I LOVE Zoe London and Helen Anderson; they seem like the nicest, most normal people but dead cool too! I also wanna be as cool as Exploring with Josh!

D: In your own online career, what is a standout moment?

H: As I’m a nerdy SEO bird, when my DA hit 30 for the first time I legit freaked out with excitement, but in the normal blogging world it’d be when I got my first event invite as I loved the idea of being noticed!

D: What’s your Hogwarts House?

H: Well, don’t kill me for this – I don’t like Harry Potter!! (Haydy is dead to me)

D: What’s your favourite film of all time?

H: This is tough – The Nightmare Before Christmas.

D: What music are you currently loving?

H: I’m all about Bonobo and Foster the People’s new album right now!

A huge thank you to Haydy for joining us today! Catch her on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Of course, remember to check out her blog here.
