Playlist of January

Hello blog type people,

First of all, I want to say a massive THANK YOU to all of you who have been reading this. I’ve become so much active on here, and it’s paying off. This blog has gone from having 4-7 views a day to 50 on average. Yesterday it was almost 100! That’s crazy! I hope you’ll all stick around while I babble on about things.

Secondly I just wanted to talk about the new blog layout! I revamped it quite a bit last night. As much as I loved the old layout, it didn’t look or feel completely right. This layout feels much more clean. I still have a fair bit of work to do on it, but I think it looks good enough for now!

Thirdly, I think my new blog goal is 5 posts a week. I may do these Monday to Friday, but I’m not sure yet. That won’t be starting just yet, as I have an exam Tuesday, so depending on how things are going, there may not be a post Monday and maybe there will be weekend posts. Who knows.

This whole paragraph just became a disclaimer for ‘I think I know what I’m doing, but I’m not 100%, but I want the feeling of accomplishment from committing to a goal’.

Today’s post is going to be a bit simpler. I want to talk about music a little bit.

Isn’t it strange how you can hear one or two songs and immediately they’re the songs that define a month in your life? This month for me has been defined by these two:

Elastic Heart – Sia

Brain – BANKS

I feel like I have to address this when talking about Elastic Heart, but I love the video. I think it’s amazing. As Jack Howard said, it really is a piece of art and you immediately feel pretentious as hell for describing it in that way.

I know that when I think back to January 2015, I’m going to think of a blur of exam stress and blogging, with BANKS and Sia playing in the background.

I’m playing these songs whenever I can, like right now! Or when I have 5 minutes between doing some revision questions, or as I get ready in the morning.

For ages I thought BANKS was what all the kids who are hip and cool were calling Azalea Banks. Turns out I couldn’t have been more wrong. I discovered this song through Meghan Tonjes who recently covered it, and now I can’t stop listening to it. It’s a few plays off of becoming a problem.

While we’re here, I’m gonna throw this out there. I’ve been using Spotify for a while, and I’ve made a playlist called ‘Davey’s Anthems’, full of some of my favourite songs. I do need to add All About That Bass though. If you’ve been following me on, well any social media, you will know how much I love that song.

I sorta wish Love Me Harder hadn’t been the first song I added to the playlist, and it had been something cool and unknown so my playlist looked mysterious.

Oh well, it’s still an absolute jam.

Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you tomorrow!
